In 2011, after attending the Oktoberfest in Munich, we were captivated by the magnificence of its organisation as an event, its history, the preservation of identity and traditions, the warmth of the people and the way beer occupies a central place: not as an element of consumption, but as a symbol of unity and togetherness.
After returning to Barcelona, we wanted to capture that feeling we had experienced — not as a replica, but with a Mediterranean spirit, so that our fellow citizens could live something similar: the tent, the theming, the atmosphere, the traditional Bavarian costumes and the gastronomy and beer itself; elements we decided to keep intact.
This approach reflects something Barcelona knows how to do like no other city: welcoming what is foreign with such warmth that it ends up feeling like its own.
Gastronomy, music, dress, conscious tradition, culture, plurality, inclusion, community, a shared anthem and Bavarian rhythm are just some of the values and concepts that we at Oktoberfest Barcelona want to bring from Munich — the Bavarian region that gives us this centuries-old tradition — to the heart of our city.
