That's why we want to share some facts that make this attire a true symbol of Bavaria. Because behind every outfit there's history, and behind every detail there's a meaning.

The Dirndl is the traditional women's outfit. It consists of a blouse (usually white), a skirt with an apron and a bow. But pay attention: that bow is not just decoration. Where it's tied reveals the wearer's relationship status. Tied on the left means single. On the right means taken or married. Tied at the center of the back means she's a waitress or a widow. A secret code passed down through generations.

The Lederhosen is the men's outfit: leather shorts with suspenders, often decorated with embroidery. Like the Dirndl, it started as workwear and by the 19th century became urban fashion.
